The fight for survival continues in book 2 of the Catalyst Series.
A murderous army, an unspeakable plague and an approaching hurricane. One man will risk it all to save his community. Cities, nations, and governments lie in ruins and billions have perished. In the wake of a global apocalypse, survival has become a way of life in a world that seems intent on wiping them all out.
Among the survivors are Scott Montgomery and his friends on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. They have struggled to hang on better than most. But growing threats —both man-made and natural, leave their chances on a razors edge. Now with the help of uncertain alliances they must face a new threat none of them saw coming. The ‘Messengers’ are like a biblical plague, destroying everything—and everyone—in their path.
Time is short for the survivors and a grim new discovery means the Messengers may not be the only thing they should fear.

Kingdoms of Sorrow Catalyst Book 2 eBook JK Franks
AS oft stated, this is the second in this series of three ( There is also a novella) Asone reviewer mentioned and I agree.. the fist is a microcosm with one a basic small area and invloves a family. It has tentacles outward but just hnts at more devestation beyond Harris Spring. This is encompasses lots of different parts of the world and pulls in a variety of characters.. (read: The good, the bad and the VERY ugly) Personally I did get very involved with the characters...the writing and narriation is amazing . Franks is one heck of a story teller! One or two typos but I would never kick such an excellent book for something so minor. They are very hard to put aside but I sometimes need to read something a bit lighter after so much blood guts and gore as this one has due to the huge "army" of the "Messengers" and their very crazy "Prophet" Michael. I like that each book can stand alone. I hate books that don't round off the story and hold you hostage to buy the next one. With Franks books.. you WANT to buy the next one! Like immediately. There must be a whole lot of research for these all which makes them even more interesting. I can REALLy see this as an amazing Science Fiction series on HBO!Product details

Kingdoms of Sorrow Catalyst Book 2 eBook JK Franks Reviews
It was a good read overall. A little bit slow moving like the first one in this series. Like one of the other reviewers said the profanity in this book was excessive and in my opinion really unnecessary. To me it also seemed that the book had a very strong anti-Christian sentiment.
Some spoiler.
I listened to this book while working and I enjoyed it. I find this genre to be a great diversion while doing chores, and the author did a good job developing the characters and storyline.
I don't try to be overly critical of technical errors (its a magazine - not a clip) and I don't mind suspending knowledge in certain areas to enhance the story. This book doesn't require the reader to ignore too much science and it makes for an enjoyable read.
My disappointment in the book (series) is when plague infected people become zombie-like. I don't think that element of the story was necessary, and for me it detracted from an otherwise well constructed novel.
Overall I recommend the series as a good read (listen) and will follow the author for more stories.
I rate this book top five all time in the disaster fiction genre. As a huge fan of CME fiction, I have high expectations for the author. This book and the last meet and exceed all expectations. The writing is nuanced with lovable characters. The storyline is enrapturing, smart and fast paced . Cant wait for the third book. Do yourself a favor and get this book, you won't be able to put it down.
I was hooked on this book as well as the first book. I finished both in two days time. I also have two friends who has become very interested in both books. I'm looking forward to the third book coming out. As well as future books by this AMAZING and INCREDIBLE AUTHOR. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. My suggestion if you don't want to stop reading the book , make sure you have plenty of snacks, extra large pizza and a ice chest full of ice and maybe a mini fridge close by to put your favorite soft drinks in to get them and keep them cold.
This outstanding book is the third book in this excellent series. The author has written all of the books in this series will the knowledge of the human heart and the need to love and be loved. The need to be proud of yourself and the need of like minded friends.
As it has been said, no man is an island, no man stands alone. This is where this author differs from other death author's in this subject area. In an end of the world scenario the more, like minded friends that you have with you, the better your chances for survival.
Mr. Frank's characters have all of the strengths and weaknesses of us all. The plot is very realistic, with both good and bad of existence in what a new world may be like. The author has every right to be proud of his work.
I am not going to give another summary of this JK Franks book. Instead I am going to stomp my feet and howl like any three year old who doesn't get what she wants. I want to always have the next in the series lined up and waiting for me immediately upon completion of the one being currently read. That's only fair, right? No? Come on people, agree with me and you will have reached nirvanna. Plus that, maybe we will get kickbacks for our honest promoting. All kidding aside, this is one of the best Post-Apocalyptic series around and I dare you to read it and not agree. Keep 'em coming JK Franks, but hurry it up a little. Please.
I was provided this free review copy audiobook by the author or narrator." This review is for the audio copy of Kingdoms of Sorrow Catalyst Book 2 by J K Franks and narrated by Steven Varnum.
The saga continues. Again, it kept me engaged throughout the whole book. The story line is believable as stated previously. The story does a good job of build up for a particular part, jumps to another area to update you on that situation and then goes back and resolves the previous predicament. It does so such that I never got lost or irritated. I rather enjoy that style of storytelling because it keeps you on your toes and involved in the story. Steven did another excellent job of narration. He helps me see the story in my mind as he is acting it. Again, a very enjoyable end of the world read…! The only problem with this book is the end. Now I need the next one! That is not to say that you can’t stop with book 2. You can leave it here if you wanted to, but I for one want to hear the rest of the story…
